The giving event raised $165,000, of which $50,000 was donated and $115,000 added the Meridian investment fund.
The top three charities pitched their hearts out and the following donations were awarded:
– BaliLife Foundation received $10 000 towards their school for children living in extreme poverty
– Let’s End Fistula Initiative received $15 000 towards their advocacy and education, preventing untreated child birth injuries for women in Kenya
– 20talk received $25 000 towards their mental health programs for young people here in Western Australia. They hope to roll out a train the trainer program to increase their reach and reduce the stigma around mental health challenges.
The event had 140+ “mates” in the room at Optus Stadium all taking a moment to reflect on how fortunate we are to have our health, safety and security.
Since the Giving Circle Model started in 2015, Meridian have supported 30 charities, donated $550 000 and invested $465 000.
Thank you to all the Meridian Directors for organising the event and all the work they do behind the scenes.
Well done to the 20talk team for taking out the largest donation. Seeing such a fantastic cause in the community and their passion for improving the lives of our youth. It is inspiring to see Lockie and Leighton executing their passion for making an impact to normalising the conversation on mental health amongst youth and young adults.
Finally, a huge thanks to Meridian Global Foundation for organising the night. It’s amazing to see a group of people so dedicated to helping others and it was a privilege to be a part of it. A big shout out to Josh Fernandes for taking great photos of the night. We look forward to working together again in the future!
